More Demonstrations, Activities & Living History!
For over 5 years, the Summer Steam Show has welcomed thousands of visitors for a summer weekend in August. Some weekends were sunny, some were anything but!
The show celebrated all modes of transport, from an army of steam engines, World War vehicles, fire engines to vintage wagons, caravans and classic cars and motorbikes to name just a few. A packed arena display showed these vehicles in action and many more were available for enthusiasts to admire. Miniature steam engines, model boats and railways and a Victorian steam powered fairground kept up the family fun whatever the weather.
From 2021 onwards we are taking a different approach to the events programme at the Museum. Rather than focus on a small handful of events we want to offer more… more demonstrations, more activities, more living history!
You will see from our 2021 calendar a larger programme of Historic Life Weekends, each with a focus on a given topic around which the activity will revolve. In July, under the (hopefully) hot sunshine, will be our Historic Life Weekend: Agriculture telling the story of farming in the rural communities. Don’t forget to put it in your diary!
